Getting out--our first walk!

Ok, first of all, I just have to say that I don't know how you moms do it; it being anything besides taking care of your child(ren)! I know I've only been a mom for a few weeks, and that it definitely takes some adjusting, but I haven't had the time and/or the energy to do anything else, including blogging. Right now it just fathoms me to think of getting back to all of life's other responsibilities and activities, in addition to a child--cooking, cleaning, callings, socializing, serving, etc. Seems unattainable at the moment! I've decided I'll just take it one day at a time. :) So hats off to all you amazing women!

But anyway, I just wanted to make a little post about mine and Beck's first walk today! Thankfully it was decent outside; well, decent for around here, anyway (40 degrees). It was soooo good to get out, and Beck enjoyed it too. I think I'm adjusting to the responsibilities of motherhood just fine, and I really do find so much joy and love in it, but I am not adjusting so well to being home all day every day, with almost no social interaction. :( The doctor says we shouldn't take Beck out until at least March, and we don't really have many neighbors to hang out with, either. So I'm totally fine, and "this too shall pass," (and then I'll probably look back and cry and wish I had this time back with my newborn!), it's just a huge change of lifestyle I'm still getting used to. Before this, I probably had never stayed at home for more than two days. Ok, now I'm blabbing. But I'm good and happy and just enjoying and adjusting to motherhood! Maybe once I get a hold on things I'll have time to catch up on blogging. But if any of you do want to come hang out with me while I have to be cooped up, let me know!

And a couple more pics, just for fun. :)

Oh I feel your pain! Having a new baby is so wonderful, but it is SO much work! Honestly, I can tell you that it gets easier. People always told me that I will dread when my kid can walk, but seriously, Parker entertains himself so much more now! I love it! Of course, now that he's running and my belly is only getting bigger, it is a little difficult to keep up with him. Ha ha! The hardest part for me was the first few months of Parker's life! Things really started getting easier when he was able to start solid foods, but the sleep schedule was still rough. Still, the first few months will go by fast but I understand how hard it is to have your whole entire life be that little tiny baby when your life was already busy before. They rely on you so much in the beginning. If you feel like talking ever, even just to vent, let me know!

He is soooooooo cute! I love the picture of you holding him. Don't worry, you will adjust soon enough. You will get so good that you will have a ton of extra time and decide to have another one!

Kathryn, I totally feel your pain going from UV to a ward you don't know with a newborn. Hang in there, with your fab prsonality you'll make friends fast, and sleep will come more by a few weeks. With my first I read the book Baby wise...it helped a lot.

Wow, he looks JUST like you in the first picture. I'm sure you'll get in the groove of things. The hardest time I ever had being a mommy was when Deano was first born and I had to juggle snuggling him, breastfeeding, 4 college classes, Scroll articles and a move to Texas drawing near. I could just cry thinking back - it was ALOT to deal with. But we made it and you will too. Things get easier when you can take the little man out and about. We aren't much of homebodies either, so the first 6 weeks are rough (we never actually wait the whole time).

Good luck, I wish I could come hang out with ya (but only if you'll return the favor in May). :o)

Man I remember those days all to well, don't feel bad about having a hard time with having to stay home all day, it is a very real trial and is a hard thing to do. I remember ambushing Ben as soon as he walked in the door at night just craving to talk to someone besides myself =) Hang in there though, I don't caare what anyone says the first three months are the hardest, then it totally starts getting better. Beck is a so adorable and the pictures of you and Adam are so sweet, you're so pretty Kathryn!

I feel you Kathryn!!! I am finally used to it I think but it was so hard for me to stay home all day and not leave the house for days at a time. I wish that we lived in the same town I would totally be over there in a second to hang out with you!

I remember when I had Ben I went from having student teaching and working 20 hours a week on top of that to nothing but watching him. It was such a difficult time for me and that was the time I really started putting myself out there and getting to know my neighbors and gals in relief society. Not only can you help eachother keep sane, but you can also swap babysitting nights later. :) Wishing I was there to visit.

Oh yes...adjusting!! It takes some time, hang in there! I remember being on the phone lots because we had just moved and I didn't have any close friends here yet. I hope it gets better really quickly for you.

Kathryn e-mail me (kellialbaugh@gmail) and we can hang out. I don't do a whole lot during the day, either, besides play with the baby. We're back in Rexburg and I would love to see you and your cute little guy!

He is just so adorable :) We would love to come over soon, but I don't know your phone number to call you when we come, so could you either e-mail it to me when you can of course, or write it in a comment on my blog? Thanks. Maddie would probably love seeing Beck too. Oh and if I may give a little advice on taking care of baby is to just enjoy the moments with him as much as you can while it lasts, because it's crazy how fast time flies...Maddie is already 6 mo. old, isn't that unbelievable??? If you do need help too, I'm home all day as well and would love to even help out with things if you need it. Kari would like to visit you as well. She was just here yesterday and was telling me about it.

Hey Riries! I found you through another ward member's blog. It was nice to see you at the shower on Saturday. I wish we could have talked a little more. Your little boy is adorable! I can't wait to take walks! Staying home is sure an adjustment :) Good luck with it all.

Hey it was great to talk to you today! I'm so glad that you called! Like everyone else said I understand what you mean by adjusting. Just when I felt like I was getting used to having a child I have my second and it starts all over again. Although the second seems easier for some reason. Probably because Audree is such a big helper! Well when you're ready to come out we'll start play dates!

Hey Kathryn,
It's okay, I understand how busy it gets with a new baby. Have a safe trip to Boise. We're going to Utah too tomorrow and will only come back on Monday, so we could probably come visit you any day after that. Let me know which day is best for you, and we'll visit then.

So I posted a comment on the next post and then I realized that this is the one that I should have posted it on just in case you don't read it. But, again congratulations. Beck is so cute.
