Decision

So, today has been a crazy day, but here are the results: I am having a c-section at 7 a.m. tomorrow.

Thank you sooo much for all your input, advice and support. We have been thinking and praying a lot these last few days.

Going into my appointment today, we felt like going with a c-section would be the best decision. Dr. Barton came in and I explained what was going on. He checked me and agreed it would be difficult to get that large of a baby out of me naturally and that it would bring some risks, but also that he had seen it done before, and that it was just up to me. He was really helpful and took the time to answer all my many questions. He remained pretty unbiased, though, making it even harder to decide. I wished he would just decide for me! Anyway, he left me for a few minutes to make a decision. I called Adam, and after talking everything over, we still felt best about a c-section. Dr. Barton came back in and before I even told him my decision, he said although he usually doesn't give recommendations, he felt impressed that a c-section would be best for me and my baby. Relief!

So this week has kind of been insane and much different than expected, but we feel good about it all and can't wait for our little boy to get here in less than 12 hours!

p.s. Even though I've had nine months to prepare and let it all sink in, this is still so surreal. I can't believe I'll be a mom tomorrow!

p.p.s. We'll post details and hopefully some pictures as soon as possible!

p.p.p.s. Please keep us in your prayers!

Prayers for yoU! Congrats and good luck tomorrow! I am so excited for you that you get to hold your sweet guy so soon. I can't wait until we get to meet our little bundle too, and don't be nervous, you will be WELL taken care of. You use that nurse's call button non-stop - trust me, those nurses are getting payed well enough to wait on you hand and foot.

I wish I could bring you meals or something. :o)

Oh, and do Dr. Barton's hands still shake like crazy? I almost cried during one of my exams. (I swear he's arthritic or something.) LOL!

Kathryn,

I'm so excited for you! I've been following your blog and have been feeling your pain. :-) Sounds like we have similar pregnancies - morning sickness all the time and problems with carpal tunnel in the hands at the end (and like you - I never expected that!). What a day you will have tomorrow. Congrats on everything and good luck - you will be a fantastic mom.
Take care -
your cousin

I love that you said you had nine months to prepare. It will be interesting to see what your feelings are tomorrow morning when you are actually doing it. I panicked and told Ben I wasn't ready-but it was too late by that point! Good luck. I can't wait to see Beck.
