Guess what?

Yes, I took this picture myself, thank you. :)

"Guess what?" seems to be the theme of our blog this summer! But honestly, nothing compares to this announcement for us: we are having a baby in February!

I seriously just want to cry even thinking about it--we are so happy and grateful. We "haven't been preventing" having kids for almost two years, but because of a few health issues (overactive thyroid, irregular cycle, insulin resistance, etc.) we knew it would be a little while before we got pregnant. So this was a beautiful, pleasant surprise!

Quick facts:
Day we found out: Thursday, June 19
Due date: Monday, February 2
How far along: 17 weeks and two days
Morning sickness? More like all-day sickness, every day. :( I'm four months along and still throwing up every day. So, it's been kinda tough keeping up with work and Church duties, but we're so happy that it's honestly not a big deal and of course it's totally worth it.
Foods I've thrown up: Pretty much everything! (I'll spare the details.) The worst was popcorn--out the mouth and nose. :(
Weird symptoms: When I throw up, it bursts a ton of blood vessels, causing a bunch of purple dots around my eyes. When I was throwing up three or more times a day, I got marks that seriously looked like black eyes.
Still fitting in my clothes: Yes! But probably not for too much longer. :(
First person to know besides us: Cody, Adam's brother (I ran off to a wedding reception and left the pregnancy tests on the table--oops)
Day we told my parents: Saturday, August 9 (we hid it from almost everyone, so don't be sad or offended!)
Boy/girl: We get to find out on September 16--less than three weeks away! Adam is completely convinced it's a boy; I kind of think it's a girl, but I'm not as self-assured as Adam. :)
Names: We totally have them picked out, but I will save that information for a later post. :)

Longer story: :)
We found out on June 19. I had been sick and throwing up for weeks, but Adam had been sick too, so I really didn't think anything of it. It's a constant joke at my work that if any girl isn't feeling well or is gone for the day, they're automatically pregnant--yeah, welcome to Rexburg. :/ I wasn't getting any better from being "sick," and they had jokingly harassed me so much, that I thought it couldn't hurt to take a test. So, I got home from work and took one, but I had thrown away the directions and couldn't remember how to read the stupid thing. I went over to Adam's office across the hall "to check my e-mail" (I didn't want to tell Adam anything until I knew for sure), but really I was trying to look up images on what answer my little test had produced. Well, Adam came in to check on me and I told him what was going on. :) From what I could find online, it looked like it was positive, but we were still skeptical and didn't want to get too excited. So we hurried and drove to Walgreen's while I was chugging water, bought another test and quickly took it once we got home (I had to leave for my friend's wedding reception in like 5 minutes and was not even ready yet). The second one was positive too--we really couldn't believe it, so we called Community Care to see if they could get me in for a blood test. I talked to the nurse and she basically told me I needed to settle down and not waste $50, that the urine tests are 99.999% accurate. So we settled down. :) That's how we found out!

So we've been keeping it a secret for more than two months now. I just wanted to make sure everything was safe and healthy. And I also didn't want to draw a ton of attention to myself, but I figure a blog is a somewhat subtle way of announcing it. :)

We are so happy and excited! I'm probably forgetting to mention a bunch of things! And sorry for such a long post, but this is pretty much the biggest blessing that's ever happened to us. :)

YAY!!!! Congratulations!!! You guys are going to make FANTASTIC parents! I am seriously so happy for you that I could cry!! I hope that you get to feeling better soon! It is no fun to be sick ALL the time! I have heard that ginger helps. (If you haven't already tried that) Good luck!!

So when I read the tittle for this post that's what I automatically thought and I was right, that is just amazing, I am still smiling as I write this. I am so happy for you both and you both will make the worlds best parents! I absolutly can not wait for three more weeks to find out what you are having and I can't wait to hear the names you've picked out. I am soooo impressed that you were able to wait to announce that you were pregnant, I wish I could have been that sensible when I found out I was pregnant but I told my family and friends right away. Ben would have liked to wait longer though but I was always able to convince him other wise. Congrats though, I'm so happy for you both. Please keep us posted!

You guys!! I am thrilled for you! You guys are going to be the best parents. If I didn't live a half hour away I would come over and hug you! Congratulations! I hope you get feeling better soon. On a side note, did you guys go to sam's club the other day? If you did I saw you pulling in, but I was driving down the road in the opposite direction. And did you hear they added a 4th judge to American Idol? I hope it just makes the show better and doesn't take away from it. What do you think? Anyway congrats again and I can't wait to see what you guys are having!

Congrats. Take care of yourself and get all the sleep you can (both of you). Even if it feels like crappy sleep, get it anyway. My baby is 9 months old now and can you guess the last time I got a good night sleep? Yup. Welcom to the most wild ride of your life....bwa ha hah ah!

Yay! No better birthday present than that! No worries about the continuous pregnancy tests. I did the same thing with Dean and earned shortly after that there is NO SUCH THING as a false positive (only false negatives). So, you could've stopped at one. LOL.

Are you going to ABC (Allred, Barton, Crouch)? I loved Crouch b/c he was my bishop while I was preggo - weird, but nice that I could see him at church - it was reassuring. Allred delivered and Barton is a sweetheart. I highly recommend.

Congrats again! This is my favorite announcement you've made all summer.

Oh, you can call and tell whichever office that you are going to that you are SO sick and keep throwing up and they can prescribe you some phenigrin (sp?). I lived on that stuff for both pregnancies. It definitely helps.

Also, some people (a lot of people) say to take B6 and half a unisom - only half so it won't make you super tired. You can try those first because they are over the counter.

Good luck. Just hang in there. The sick phase goes away for most around 12-15 weeks. For me, it was 15 weeks, nearly to the day, with both pregnancies. Weird.

Yay! I'm totally jumping up and down right now! Congratulations! Greg is usually good at guessing the baby's sex. For all of our friends' first babies, he has been right. The only time he was ever wrong was with his own kid! Ha! :) So anyway, Greg is guessing that you're having a girl. It will be fun to find out! I'm so happy for you guys!

Oh I'm so excited for you guys!!! That is FANTASTIC news!!! Logan and I have been trying for almost a year, but I have health problems too (hypothyroidism, endometriosis) so its been a struggle...hopefully our time will come soon. You are going to be a wonderful mom. I hope the morning sickness stops ASAP!! I can't remember at the moment (I got my wisdom teeth out this morning, so I'm really groggy) but didn't we take stewardship parenting together summer semester 06?? If so, I bet you are so excited to put that info to good use. Regardless, You are so amazing!!! I know what being a RS pres is like, and I think you are absolutely perfect for the job. That is like the best news ever i'm sure...morning sickness sucks but for some reason its really easy to forget once it goes away...what ever you do DONT eat a bag of nacho dorito world rite chips it is by far the worst thing in the whole world to throw up!

CONGRATS!!! Babies are so much fun! You're going to be a great mother! Being sick sucks...I remember. The ONLY thing I didn't throw up was the crunchy gingersnap cookies from the grocery store. Seriously...try them. Supposedly ginger helps. It will pass and lessen..but don't be surprised if it reappears at the end! Congrats and wish you the best!!
